No more Whistle Podu? Dhoni set to leave CSK for new team in IPL

IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings got huge shot in the arm after the BCCI Working Committee decided against its termination last week. But they are set to receive some bad news too. Their captain MS Dhoni is set to leave the franchise and join another team.

According to a report in The Times of India, the Indian limited overs captain is set to end his eight-year association with CSK and join another team in the next edition.
"Dhoni will definitely feature in the IPL for a new team. There is absolutely no pressure from CSK to stop him and the next edition of the IPL will see him in action," a source close to the developments told Times of India. "He (Dhoni) is the Indian captain in ODIs and T20. How can he not play in an important event like the IPL?"
Ever since CSK's suspension, there have been questions raised about Dhoni's future in the IPL. There were murmurs that Dhoni might not participate in IPL for two years rather than joining another team. But Dhoni has decided to part ways with the franchise.
With two new teams to inducted into IPL next year, Dhoni might be the No1 target for the franchises. The source also told the paper that there is always a possibility of Dhoni returning to the franchise with the option to buy him back.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Dhoni took time off to meet former BCCI President N Srinivasan at his residence, a move which invited criticism from some quarters.
A top source said that Dhoni met Srinivasan over breakfast and was at the ICC Chairman's residence for close to 45 minutes.
Petitioner in the IPL spot-fixing case, Aditya Verma, who is secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar, said in a letter to Dhoni that the meeting with the tainted boss should have been avoided.
"Today I am shocked to see a channel showing that you (Dhoni) went to visit Srini's house for breakfast. Legally there's no bar but being a captain of Team India you can avoid a visit to his home," Verma wrote in his letter to the limited-overs captain.
"Earlier you have faced criticism when you gave a statement to Mudgal committee about Guru's role in CSK. Everybody knows that who pressurised you to give your statement regarding Guru's role in CSK. Lastly Lodha committee banned Gurunath for life due to conflict of interest of Srinivasan in BCCI and CSK.
"Hon'ble Supreme Court ousted Srinivasan from BCCI in his order dated 22.01.2015. You are the captain of national team at present. When Lodha Committee report is awaited, your visit to ex-CSK owner's home is giving a wrong message to sports world. Nobody is above the law, so don't repeat such silly things again for the sake of BCCI... " he wrote.
